When I use the "rest state" - or "energy save" mode?
This question you should think if you want to save energy from compaq presario v2000 battery by sending your laptop in "sleep" or
"energy saving" mode. Between the modes, there are differences. XP's standby or Vista and Windows 7 save "energy" on the computer so that it still consumes some power, but less than during normal use.
For the rest of the computer saves the current settings on the hard drive and then shut down completely, so no electricity is consumed. On the other hand, Windows takes much longer to awaken from sleep mode again, sometimes even
minutes. And in that time consumed much power from your Compaq presario r3000 battery and you can not work still.
XP's standby mode is not very effective. If you do not use your notebook for more than half an hour, so you should better use the "sleep" mode. For shorter periods of standby mode is preferable.
But Vista and Windows 7, the "energy saving have" implemented a lot better. Therefore, you should not bother with the "Ruhezustandt" mode, unless you will not use your Dell latitude c600 battery for more than two to three hours.
Myth: More RAM, extended battery life.
That's right. For more RAM means less access to disk - and the hard disk consumes a lot of power once. But RAM itself also needs electricity. If you use many applications at once (which you should avoid when you work without
external power source) will not reduce more RAM to use the hard drive - thus your notebook therefore needs more power.
